#2 · Structural Grade

The industry standard for deck framing, joists, ledger boards, and hidden structure. Structurally sound and fully code-compliant. Expect visible knots, occasional wane on edges, and some natural checking (surface cracking as wood dries). For anything that gets covered up or painted, this is the smart choice.

Prime Grade

Prime · Better Appearance

A step above #2. Fewer and tighter knots, less wane, cleaner face sides. A great choice for exposed deck surfaces, visible framing, or anywhere appearance matters but you don't need perfection. Good balance between looks and cost.

#1 · Premium Grade

The cleanest, tightest-grained stock we carry. Minimal knots, straight grain, best appearance. Ideal for exposed deck boards, handrails, fascia, and finish work where the wood is on full display. If it's going to be seen and stained, this is worth the upgrade.
